Every week Paizo sends out an email detailing the happenings of the
Paizo store. This includes top 10 lists of what sells on their stores.
Each week I'll be focusing on the list, 'Top 10 downloads from other
companies' and commenting on the rise of the companies involved and
changes of the list.
1. One on One Adventures Compendium - Expeditious Retreat Press
One on One Adventures is finally at the top and leading the adventure trend this week. This products facilitates play with 1 GM and 1 Player allowing you to keep going when you're short on players. Its also very thoughtful of the needs and limitations of types of classes for the adventures.
2. Kineticists of Porphyra 2 - Purple Duck Games
KoP2 continues where Kineticists of Porphyra left off only this time instead of grid filling it innovates and evolves making the Kineticist have a greater range of uses.
3. Kineticists of Porphyra - Purple Duck Games
Kineticists of Porphyra brings out familiar tropes to expand the Kineticist in directions that are expected but bring the young class up to speed in diversity.
4. Path of War Expanded - Dreamscarred Press
Path of War was the popular answer to martial classes getting nice things and this book expands it with more maneuvers, more diciplines and more options for the rest of the classes including psionic support.
5. Kineticists of Porphyra 3 - Purple Duck Games
KoP3 continues the current reign of Kineticist as Purple Duck Games continues to innovate the class.
6. Ultimate Psionics - Dreamscarred Press
Once again Ultimate Psionics stays on the list. Its place is well deserved as one of the most recommended third party books ever because of it's amazing crunch and bringing Psionics to Pathfinder.
7. Occult Archetypes - Legendary Games
Finally we get some material for the rest of the Occult Adventures classes. New archetypes all around. Review for this one is pending.
8. Wrath of the River King - Kobold Press
Kobold Press gets back on the list with an adventure, bringing more GM material. Its about time.
9. Pathfinder Paper Minis: The Emerald Spire Superdungeon - Pathfinder Paper Minis
As kind of a hardcover module the Emerald Spire has cards to aid with running it but no pawns. Thsi product seeks to solve that problem by giving us some low cost methods of creating minis for the epic superdungeon.
10. Way of the Wicked-Book #1: Knot of Thorns - Fire Mountain Games
Way of the Wicked has always had quite a bit of chatter on the Paizo forums and it seems that it's popularity has caught up to it. Making it to the top ten list is the first part of an adventure path for those that want to use some of those evil options.
One on One Adventures is finally at the top but more than that we now have three adventures hitting the list with Way of the Wicked and Wrath of the River King. I'm happy to see this change in trends because I am actually kind of tired of character options. I like seeing a bit more out of adventures and GM oriented books.
Kineticists seem like a hot topic or the Purple Duck Games expansions are that good. Either way these are great picks but we also have Occult Archetypes to fill in for the rest of the psychic classes. By the way I totally called it on KoP3.
Speaking of Porphyra we also have Psychic Warriors of Porphyra.
Ultimate Psionics seems to be a huge champion in staying power with a pretty persistent position on the list.
Since you all love Dreamscarred Press, don't forget to check out their Monster Class series including the recently released Fey class. This series has the premise of taking a monster and turning it into a class, much like the Paragon classes from Rite Publishing's race books.
Under the Four Horsemen banner Rogue Genius Games has put out some rough and tumble opponents with Minmaxed Monsters. This book promises some monsters that are as ruthlessly built as some of the more dastardly players that hate to lose.
If you loved Thunderscape as much as I did you'll be happy to see that there is a new addition to the adventure Lost Lexicon. Catch up with it so you can get your hands on part 3; Through Plague and Fire.
If you love Pathfinder Kickstarters then boy do I have a doozy for you. Rogue Genius Games currently looking for funding for The Talented Bestiary, promising a whole new way to make your monsters with new building blocks reminiscent of the Talented series of classes to build the creature you want. I for one am very excited by this project. Owen K Stevens has proven himself a master crunch writer with an eye for innovation that doesn't completely disrupt the game and the prospect of a book that makes creating monster stat blocks easier is always win for me. I'm sure this will be a staple on my book shelf. The project is fully funded right now but there are always stretch goals to achieve.
