Every week Paizo sends out an email detailing the happenings of the
Paizo store. This includes top 10 lists of what sells on their stores.
Each week I'll be focusing on the list, 'Top 10 downloads from other
companies' and commenting on the rise of the companies involved and
changes of the list.
1. One on One Adventures Compendium - Expeditious Retreat Press
One on One is a product compiling adventures for one GM and one PC. It takes the time and care to tailor each adventure around the needs of particular types of classes so that the PC doesn't get overwhelmed. Once again it makes it to the top of the top ten list after a long stint of being the only adventure on the list.
2. Kineticists of Porphyra 3 - Purple Duck Games
3. Kineticists of Porphyra 2 - Purple Duck Games
4. Kineticists of Porphyra - Purple Duck Games
Purple Duck Games gets another three of a kind with it's Kineticists of Porphyra series. These books take the Kineticists and gives new elements, new items, new talents, NPC stat blocks and archetypes to fill in blanks for the Kineticist before completely evolving the class with a plethora of options. Fans of the Kineticist will be thrilled to have them.
5. Path of War Expanded - Dreamscarred Press
Continuing where the popular Path of War left off, this book builds even more spectacular options for it's new martial system including archetypes, new classes and even psionic options.
6. Ultimate Psionics - Dreamscarred Press
Ultimate Psionics gives you what you need and much more to bring psionics to your game. It has been seen as the gold standard for what third party products can be and what they can do for your game. Not just a bunch of new classes Psionics offers a whole new and innovative system of non-magic magic that adds flavor and new ways to play.
7. Way of the Wicked-Book #1: Knot of Thorns - Fire Mountain Games
Knot of Thorns is the first book in the Way of the Wicket Adventure Path. Its a huge book that starts you on an adventure of vengeance where you and the rest of the party are evil. This is a rare opportunity to break out your Anti-Paladin builds and use those evil options with a book with 17 five star reviews (and two four star reviews).
8. Gonzo 2 - Little Red Goblin Games
I haven't read enough to make a full review (yet) but Gonzo 2 deserves it's place on the list for the sheer amount of content and imagination it puts on the table. I mean, this book is HUGE and has content like giant robot rules, a Sparkle Princess class, and a Henshin Hero class. Like a lot of LRGG releases this can er on the side of goofy sometimes but whats a game without a little fun. Get this book if you want to go crazy with your games.
9. Mythic Monsters 37: Robots - Legendary Games
Honestly I have played exactly two sessions with mythic rules so Legendary Games' mythic material usually goes way below my rader. But the line has been popular enough where I've heard that Mythic isn't worth playing without Legendary Games so there's enough praise to warrant it's place on the lsit.
10. Occult Archetypes - Legendary Games.
Legendary Games brings up more options for Occult Adventure classes as well as new rules and options for making your game more occult.
The 'Winner' of the week is definitely Purple Duck Games. The Kineticists of Porhphyra series is proving to be quite the cash cow and has made up the bulk of the Kineticist representation on the list for a while now. While Occult Archetypes brings way more bang for the buck that you'd expect it only covers so much so if you collect the KoP series and Occult Archetypes the Kineticist will be way ahead in terms of diversity.
Gonzo 2 is a new player and by description it seems like the 'Deadpool' of third party books but the classes and options are mechanically pretty legit and give you unique ways to play things out. This one is definitely one that you want a hard copy of. I know I'm ordering one.
There is a lot of representation for adventures this week and last week and Way of the Wicked seems to be climbing in popularity. Its been around for a while with lots of chatter on Paizo's forums so I've been seeing praises of it all around.
Recently I noticed Skortched Urf's Technology Unleashed. I'm a bit wary of the product because of some previous releases leaving a bad taste in my mouth, but I'll given anything with technology a shot. Besides, its possible that the company has grown and evolved since Mega Feats so I might as well take a look.
I've admired Rhune from afar. Storm Bunny Studios has a setting that looks like your typical steam dungeonpunk thing with a Norse myth bent which could be appealing enough but I never got into it. Their new Dawn of Twilight Campaign Guide may change that because it looks like there's finally a book that's a one stop shop for what you need to really get into the setting instead of a bunch of smaller products that don't exactly speak to me. I would love to see how it stacks up to releases like Pure Steam and Thunderscape. I've been interested in how the Nordic slant pulls everything together but never had anything that pull everything into one cohesive product. On the same note, Stormbunny is working with Mike Myler to produce a eastern steampunk campaign setting for 5th edition. This does lead me to wonder where Fat Goblin Game's Steampunk Musha went.
Interjection Games has put out Ultimate Runesmithing, something that's going straight onto my wishlist. If Strange Magic is any indication this looks very promising and possibly the spiritual successor to the artificer that I've been wanting. Interjection Games always has tight crunch with innovative mechanics so I'm excited.
Hey there Malwing! You mentioned Fat Goblin Game's Steampunk Musha and I thought I would direct you to our blog where developer Lucus P talks about our ongoing writing and commitment to the project!

Note... we recently moved to a new site so although all of the posts are dated the same day, he and the SPM team have been working diligently for months on making SPM a reality!
Take care, and good gaming!
